Top 10 things you didn't know about the band, the Cranberries!!

Since I have been doing this podcast for the past 2.5 years, I am amazed at what I have learned.  First and foremost, I am so grateful to be doing this to honor my sister.  However, I would be lying if I said learning a lot of new things wasn't pretty cool.  I thought I knew a lot about pop culture going into this show, however I have quickly learned that was not the case! So in honor of the Pop Culture Retrospectives latest episode, I thought we could go over a list of 10 things you may not have known about the Cranberries!

#1:  The band's name was originally the Cranberry Saw Us, which was sort of a play on words if you will, of the infamous Thanksgiving side dish- cranberry sauce.

#2:  Delores O'Riordan auditioned for the band while wearing a pink track suit.  She was not the only lead singer of the band, but the first singer left the group to return to his previous band.

#3:  The original title for the song "Zombie" was "In Your Head."

#4:  The Cranberries record label did NOT want them to release the song "Zombie."  They apparently wrote out a million dollar check and presented it to them in the hopes they would not release it.  O'Riordan apparently ripped the check up right then and there!

#5:  O'Riordan learned how to yodel from her Dad!

#6:  "No Need to Argue" is the Cranberries best selling album to date.  It sold over 20 million copies!

#7:  The 3 men in the group- Noel Hogan, Mike Hogan and Fergal Lawler, all apparently met while they were breakdancing as teenagers!

#8:  At one time, O'Riordan was one of the wealthiest women in all of Ireland!

#9:  O'Riordan wrote her first song at age 12.

#10:  After O'Riordan passed away in 2018, the surviving band members all decided to end the group as it would never be the same without their incredibly talented lead singer, Delores.
